There was a sixth scale Zombie at SDCC. No, not the Dead from SIdeshow, although Patient Zero is pretty damn cool. The comic book based line Dust also has it's share of Zombies, and they've produced a 12" version that's definitely unique. I picked one up at the show and have the review up today.

I also have a guest review up of Shockblast, from Transformer fan David Ginn. Check out both reviews at the usual:

Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!

    Cool

    Zombies...

    drool homer early

Although I do hate those ridiculous-looking appendages on his arms.

It goes against everything I think a true zombie should look like.

And that fugly cloth outfit... which (*surprise*) doesn't work at a 12" scale.

I like it, in a really weird kind of way. I'd never buy one myself, but it's certainly different looking..

You guys do realize this is a licensed product, right? It's not SUPPOSED to look like a traditional zombie, it's right out of the comic book.

Yes, I know this, and it makes no difference to me. I can't stand the design.

God, it's like a bunch of cool elements, put int oone werid thing!

I LOVE that head... but the crazy hands dont go with it (and Im talking design in general) If I coudl afford it, I'd get it, make a wicked-ass classic zombie, and then some badass rock monster with those arms!

(no guarantee on the rock monster, Im slow! and kinda suck, too)

All I see when I look at that figure is a designer who not only has no original ideas, but who felt the need to rip off and incredibly well-known property...which is both sad and illegal.

    No reflection on you, Crawford.

And, yeah, you really ought to do a little more 'toy' coverage in general. As in, mass-market cheap stuff that anyone should be able to get ahold of. Like TFs, Joes, whatever. I recognize that you are much more into the higher-end stuff, but its nice once in a while to get an opinion on these mass-market items other that that of the half dozen folks who have been at it for years. No disrespect to them, of course...just a "fresh voice" kind of thing.

DA - I don't exactly know who you've been reading, but no one - NO ONE - has been reviewing toys online longer than I have. Sorry, I get a little defensive about that, particularly since so many use a format I developed in the first place.

As to what I cover, I can only a) buy so much and b) cover so much in four reviews a week. Scan across the top of my page - the last 10 reviews covers Star Wars, Family Guy, Muppets, military sixth scale, horror sixth scale, Willy Wonka, Spider-man, Batman, Mcfarlane's Military line and Street Fighter. You know someone covering more variety than that?

Like I said, I do what I can, but I can only cover so much. That's what the guest reviews are good for - hitting even more than I can cover. And I sure am thankful for those guest reviews, and they do a great job.
